Franchise Media recently caught up with Dinesh Gunarathana, known as DG, whom owns two Rodney Wayne salons in Wellington.
DG, the Sri Lankan-born father-of-two has established a strong reputation in Wellington’s hairstyling scene and as the coolest dad at his kids’ school. The Sri Lankan-born father-of-two enjoys experimenting with various hairstyles on himself and his children, impressing their friends.
Dinesh’s passion for hair began in childhood, leading him from his village in Sri Lanka to Wellington. He honed his skills with a diploma in hairdressing, advanced training at the Toni & Guy Academy in Singapore, and experience running salons in Dubai. In 2019, he returned to Sri Lanka to lead the Toni & Guy franchise before moving to New Zealand in 2020.
Strong Franchise Support System
Choosing New Zealand for its family-friendly environment, Dinesh joined Rodney Wayne, appreciating their strong franchise support system. He started at the Queensgate branch, bought shares in the Lambton Quay salon, and later acquired the Manners Street salon. His business has flourished, doubling in turnover and gaining numerous regular clients. Dinesh credits the Rodney Wayne franchise system for his success, noting the exceptional support from the franchise leadership.
