Longing for those sunny days? To get the most of the season ahead, follow these tips from Rodney Wayne creative and education director Newton cook.
“Heading into warmer weather, our hair can tend to lose a bit of its gloss,” says Newton. “Ensuring we keep our hair hydrated to feel softer but also including a product into our regimen that will give hair the appearance of shine as well.
“My go-to product to help with keeping hair moisturised when styling is Kérastase Nutritive Nectar Thermique. It has a lovely creaminess and helps to keep the hair protected from heat and heat styling leaving it feeling and soft and supple. Finishing with L’Oréal Ring Light Shine Spray adds a glossy mist to then give your hair a beautiful sheen.
Newton advises setting yourself up to make the most of the weather with a fresh style. “Embracing your hair’s natural texture is becoming a bigger trend as people tend to have less time on their hands. The first step to take when looking after naturally textured hair is ensuring you have a great shape, or cut, that will sit into itself organically.
“The next step is making sure you have the right product. L’Oréal Professionnel Techni Art Dual Styler Bouncy and Tender is great for this because it offers anti-humidity protection that lasts for days and it’s perfect at enhancing curls without the crunchiness.
Considering a fresh colour too? Newton suggests, “I’m asked often about multi-dimensional colour and whether it’s something that will suits. Colour contouring is a technique that is a natural evolution of balayage. I like to create a balayage designed specifically to enhance natural beauty. Colour placement is bespoke, highlighting areas where you want to draw the attention. The French Balayage and Gloss technique is ideal for this, it’s like an introduction to colour-accentuating your best assets.
