Winter’s Wildest Cut

As the days get shorter and the weather gets wilder it’s the perfect time to change your style to suit the season. The global resurgence of the Wolf Cut is being felt here too. And thanks to the likes of social platforms like TikTok and Instagram we’ll be seeing this style cropping up more and more.

The Wolf Cut is a cross between a textured Lob (or Long Bob) and a Mullet, worn with wild waves and texture through the hair. It’s perfect for those who like to be low maintenance with their styling routine each morning but still want a power style. It’s a lived-in look with a sharp finish. Adding bends into the shorter layers and lengths using a styler like the ghd classic curl tong around the wispy bangs and rounded face-framing takes it to the next level of edginess.

Pairing with your favourite texture spray or dry shampoo gives you gorgeously easy walk-out-the-door hair. My favourite texturizing spray to use is Redken Triple Dry. It has just the right amount of hold and gives airy volume without visible residue.

Winter Colour

To keep that natural, lived-in look ready to go anywhere, your hair colour needs a next-level natural edge too. The Smoky Hair trend is about creating a seamless blend between colours and neutralising any unwanted tones from the hair. Like the Smoky Eye trend in makeup, this universally popular technigque will stand the test of time. You can maintain your Smoky Hair colour with a simple toner refresh too, which is another bonus for lovers of low-maintence styling with maximum effect.

Winter Care

During the colder months, there’s a greater risk that your hair can experience dryness. Moving from heated homes to chilly outdoors and then into heated workspaces and back each day can dehydrate hair drastically. Ensure you are rehydrating your hair by using a leave-in conditioner through this season to prevent damage. My preferred treatment right now is Kérastase Night Serum. Applied in the evening, it nourishes your hair while you sleep. Your strands absorb the nutrients needed to reverse daytime dehydration.

Earn Rewards with your Winter Hair Care

The most rewarding tip this season is to remember to ask about your Rodney Wayne Rewards. Every time you receive a service or shop at a Rodney Wayne salon or Shampoo ‘n’ Things store you can earn Rodney Wayne Rewards*. They’re points that go towards your hair services and hair care products. You’ll also get access to special offers and exclusive products.
